Working Title "A Year Without Color"
This is a photobook project I started to work on during the 2020 Covid Pandemic. It is a photographic diary of three tumultuous years that show a personal transformation and hopefully also serves as a historic document of how life was in Germany during the pandemic. Documenting the pandemic was my main focus at first, but it quickly became the stage for a much more important and personal story. My wife became pregnant in late 2020 and at the same time the owner of our apartment had asked us to move out so that she can use it herself. Eventually we made the decision to move out of the city and into the countryside of Lower Saxony. A decision that was not easy for me, as I am very attached to city life as a street photographer. Our first son was born one week after moving into our new home and it marked the beginning of a quieter life. A new beginning. The pandemic stepped into the background and my focus shifted towards finding a new voice as a photographer and focusing on building a family. This is a project about finding hope and transformation. I'm currently working on a book which will consist of three chapters.
